Adam Scott has indicated a big screen resurrection of the tragically short-lived Starz series Party Down, but it was his former co-star Megan Mullally who got to make the big announcement. At a recent Television Critics Association press tour, the actress finally confirmed plans for a Party Down movie, which she said will start production in either late spring or early summer. [THR]

The show, which ended its two season run in 2010, follows a crew of Hollywood bottom-feeders working at a thankless catering company as they struggle to climb the ladder to fame and fortune. It provided a launching pad for comedic actors like Scott, Ken Marino, Martin Starr, Lizzy Caplan, and Jane Lynch, who have since gone on to other successful projects. According to Mullally, the entire cast will return to star in the movie, with a few surprises mixed in for good measure.

“I think we’re going to see Lydia’s ex-husband — Ed I think is his name — who was really racist and a misogynist,” said Mullally of her character’s possible story in the film outing. She played Lydia Dunfree, an upbeat, divorced stage mother, after both Lynch and her replacement, Jennifer Coolidge, left the series.

While it’s still uncertain whether or not those two will reprise their roles, other members of the sitcom’s ranks have already signed on. Mullally confirmed that Party Down writer John Enbom is penning the screenplay, which she believes will continue the show’s storyline from where it left off.
