If you’ve been looking forward to R.I.P.D. (or “Rest In Peace Department”), the latest film from Robert Schwentke (Red) that centers on a team of undead police officers who battle spirits unready to depart this world, then today is your lucky day, with the news that three new actors have joined the previously announced cast of Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges, Kevin Bacon and Mary Louise Parker (who had a role in Red).

Well, I said “actors”, but the first person to sign up is actually a Victoria’s Secret model. Marisa Miller will make her feature debut with this film (although she has appeared in TV series such as Entourage and How I Met Your Mother), playing the “human avatar” of Jeff Bridges‘ character — this is apparently the form humans see on Earth.

Miller is following in the footsteps of fellow VS model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who starred in Transformers: Dark of the Moon, as well as Sports Illustrated model Brooklyn Decker, who starred in Just Go With It. Now, those were mediocre movies, so it’s not exactly a good sign for Miller, but this film has promise, and it’ll be interesting to see whether or not she can really act. [THR]

The second addition is slightly less noteworthy. TV actor Mike O’Malley (probably most known for Glee) is set to play a ghost; no word on how big the role is, but presumably pretty small, considering his status. [Deadline]

Last but not least, screen veteran James Hong has signed on to play Reynolds‘ avatar, Grandpa Chen. The 82-year-old legend (best known for appearances in Blade Runner and Big Trouble in Little China) has been playing small roles since the 1950s, and is showing no signs of slowing down — he just completed three movies, after all. R.I.P.D. has set a release date of June 28th 2013, so that’s plenty of time to build up your anticipation.

Synopsis: “A recently slain cop joins a team of undead police officers working for the Rest in Peace Department and tries to find the man who murdered him. Based on the comic by Peter M. Lenkov.

Are you a fan of the actors who have joined? Do you think they will make worthy additions?
