Jerry Bruckheimer‘s Lone Ranger adaptation may finally have a writer. The Hollywood Reporter says that Revolutionary Road screenwriter Justin Haythe is in talks with Disney to pen the script.

First starting as a radio show in 1930’s, and making a couple on screen appearances in later years, the story follows a wandering man in the west with his Native American side-kick Tonto. Earlier it was reported that Johnny Depp was signed on to play Tonto. This may be Disney trying to being to life another franchise much like they did with the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. It already has Jerry Bruckheimer producing Depp acting.

Will Lone Ranger be another financial success for Disney? Could it be the next Pirates franchise?
