This long-awaited, Tim Blake Nelson-directed double dose of Edward Norton is finally on its way to theaters. The exact date? April 2nd. TFS Editor-in-Chief Jordan Raup saw, and approved of, the film at last year’s Toronto International Film Fest. Read his review here.
Here’s a rundown of the plot:
An Ivy League professor is lured back to his Oklahoma hometown, where his twin brother, a small-time pot grower, has concocted a scheme to take down a local drug lord. [IMDB]
Though it still has one more festival runaround (SXSW in March), Nelson’s strangely received/much talked about film undoubtedly features interesting turns by Norton, playing twin brothers, Susan Sarandon as the mother character and Richard Dreyfuss as the “local drug lord.”
Hopefully this film will put Norton back on the map. His last notably great performance came in Ridley Scott’s Kingdom of Heaven as the leper King Baldwin. Though his face wasn’t scene, his presence was most certainly felt in that picture. Since, it’s been some good (The Painted Veil), some meh (Pride and Glory) and a whole lotta bad (The Illusionist, Down in the Valley, The Incredible Hulk).
C’mon, Edward, you can do it.
