What is going on with 47 Ronin? First scheduled for a November 2012 bow, Universal Studios pushed the samurai actioner starring Keanu Reeves to a February 2013 date and now its moved yet again. Directed by first-timer and commercial helmer Carl Rinsch, the film will now land on December 25th, 2013 due to extensive visual effects work and some re-shoots. According to Deadline, this couldn’t be done in the right timeframe, because of the London-based team having scheduling issues due to the Olympics. I’m wary, but we have a long ways to go before we see anything from this one and the Christmas slot is usually promising. Universal has also issued a slew of other release date updates, which can be seen below.

Seth Gordon‘s Horrible Bosses follow-up Identity Thief starring Melissa McCarthy and Jason Bateman will now arrive on May 10th, 2013.

– The 3D re-release of Steven Spielberg‘s Jurassic Park will now arrive on April 5th, 2013 instead of July 19th, 2013.

Richard Curtis‘ (Love Actually) next film About Time, with Rachel McAdams, will land on May 10th, 2013.

R.I.P.D., starring Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges, now takes Jurassic Park‘s spot of July 19th, 2013 instead of June 28th.

2 Guns, the actioner starring Denzel Washington, Mark Wahlberg and Paul Patton will hit on August 16th, 2013.

And lastly Kick-Ass 2 will hit on June 28th, 2013, taking the place of R.I.P.D. Deadline also lets us know that two members have been added to Jeff Wadlow‘s cast, one being Mirror Mirror and War Horse star Robert Emms, who takes the role of Insect Man. Think Like a Man star Morris Chestnut makes the other addition as guardian to Chloe Moretz‘s Hit Girl and he’s also stepping into Brad Anderson‘s thriller The Hive as Halle Berry’s cop significant other. As for Kick-Ass 2, the film will feature  Christopher Mintz-Plasse in an expanded role as he battles Aaron Johnson‘s Kick-Ass. Also returning is Nicolas Cage, as well as newcomers John Leguizamo and Scrubs star Donald Faison.
