If there was any question if those behind the Fast & Furious franchise were aware of their own goofy charm, it was answered with the title debut of the eight installment. Revealed recently to be The Fate of the Furious, they could’ve upped it a notch to be The F8 of the Furious, but the current title (or at least hashtag of #F8) will have to do. Featuring Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Lucas Black, Scott Eastwood, Kurt Russell, Jason Statham, and franchise newcomer Charlize Theron, Universal have now released the first trailer.

“He’s coming off of a lot of emotion [from movie] seven, and the loss that seven represents… it’s kind of cold-blooded. It is going to hit you like a ton of bricks. Everything is going to make sense,” Diesel says of his character of Dominic Toretto to ET, while also saying that director F. Gary Gray should get Best Director Oscar attention for his work here. (In case there is any doubt  everyone involved in this franchise is all-in.)

Ahead of a spring release, check out the trailer below, which features a family divided, leading to a submarine chase, of course.

Now that Dom and Letty are on their honeymoon and Brian and Mia have retired from the game—and the rest of the crew has been exonerated—the globetrotting team has found a semblance of a normal life. But when a mysterious woman (Oscar® winner Charlize Theron) seduces Dom into the world of crime he can’t seem to escape and a betrayal of those closest to him, they will face trials that will test them as never before.

From the shores of Cuba and the streets of New York City to the icy plains off the arctic Barents Sea, our elite force will crisscross the globe to stop an anarchist from unleashing chaos on the world’s stage…and to bring home the man who made them a family.
