As if the world needed more trailers/featurettes/gossip/financial projections concerning this impending theatrical great disaster/great success, here is another Avatar featurette, courtesy of 20th Century Fox, located on Taiwanese Yahoo. [via /Film] Check out the embed below.

While the footage is certainly breathtaking and further proof of the high level of special effects (and expense) that went into this thing, it makes one wonder: is there more story? Is this what we are to expect in terms of narrative? Will there be unexpected twists? After all, unexpected twists, these days, are usually expected. And, most importantly, is a simple outsider conformist-turns-insider rebel all for the love a woman (well, I guess Na’vi in this case) and her people enough to make back half a billion dollars? What if The Last Samurai is better than this?

There have been plenty of news reporting on Fox hedging its bets on this $500 million project, promising a cinematic revolution whilst preparing for a savior in the form of a chipmunk.

What do you think? Are featurettes like this too much, too little, or just enough?

In other Avatar news, British pop star Leona Lewis (“Bleeding Love”) will sing the film’s theme song, entitled “I See You.” James Horner scored the soundtrack. Although Lewis is not quite Celine Dion (and the title “I See You” is far less romantic than “My Heart Will Go On”) there looks to be promise in this musical pairing. The OST will be released digitally and physically December 15th (internationally available December 14th) with pre-orders beginning at AtlanticRecords.com on November 16th.
