After delivering his Matt Damon-led political thriller Green Zone to mixed results, Paul Greengrass is back in the director’s chair and taking on the true story of the 2009 Somali pirates hijacking of the MV Maersk Alabama. Led by Tom Hanks as our title character Captain Phillips, the first trailer has arrived today.
Showing the initial hijacking and a brief glimpse of what’s to come, it looks like the perfect material for Greengrass with his docu-drama style. Getting released this fall, we can expect a debut on the festival circuit and one can check out the trailer below (via The Guardian) for the film also starring Catherine Keener, Max Martini, Yul Vazquez, Michael Chernus, Chris Mulkey, Corey Johnson, David Warshofsky, John Magaro and Angus MacInnes.
Captain Phillips arrives on October 11th, 2013.
