One of the very few sequels we’re looking forward to this summer features zero explosions, capes, or robots. Magic Mike XXL many not feature Steven Soderbergh as director (although he returns in the roles of executive producer, cinematographer, and editor), but we’re curious what his longtime assistant director and producer Greg Jacobs will provide as director.

Returning are Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash, Adam Rodriguez and Gabriel Iglesias (sorry, no Matthew McConaughey), joined by newcomers Elizabeth Banks, Donald Glover, Amber Heard, Andie MacDowell, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Michael Strahan. We now have a new trailer which shows off the gang’s road trip, and a whole lot more (but not the best parts, as it will tell you). Check it out below, along with a batch of character posters.

Picking up the story three years after Mike bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game, “Magic Mike XXL” finds the remaining Kings of Tampa likewise ready to throw in the towel. But they want to do it their way: burning down the house in one last blow-out performance in Myrtle Beach, and with legendary headliner Magic Mike sharing the spotlight with them. On the road to their final show, with whistle stops in Jacksonville and Savannah to renew old acquaintances and make new friends, Mike and the guys learn some new moves and shake off the past in surprising ways.
