A day after learning of Open Road’s plans to release Joshua Michael Stern‘s jOBS on April 19, the first clip from the film has surfaced ahead of its premiere. A parking-garage conversation between star Ashton Kutcher and Josh Gad, the clip is very likely taken from early on in the film’s story: “Nobody wants to buy a computer!” shouts Gad’s Steve Wozniak at one point.
I can’t say I’m without a measure of skepticism as to how this film will turn out — it doesn’t necessarily help matters that this first clip plays like something called Clash of the Beards — but I’m certainly curious to track how the film is received at the Sundance Film Festival. It is slated to premiere tomorrow evening, and will have showings on the festival’s two final days as well. Though a healthy number of Sundance journalists may have fled Park City by that time, I’m sure there will still be enough of a post-screening storm to gauge an early reaction.
Check out the full minute-long clip below. And, though they haven’t been featured in any footage so far, do keep in mind that the film’s supporting cast — Matthew Modine, Dermot Mulroney, J.K. Simmons, James Woods — is full of veteran strength.
Do you have any early hunches regarding how jOBS will be received at Sundance?
