My sincerest apologies for that headline. Warner Brothers’ epic Clash of the Titans ruled the Easter weekend box office, grossing a stellar $61.4 million in its opening weekend. This was the highest Easter Weekend debut, and the second highest April debut (behind 2009′s Fast and Furious).
It handily topped Tyler Perry‘s sequel Why Did I Get Married Too?, which likewise opened with an impressive performance, gating $30.1 million. It easily covered its $20 million budget.
Fan favorite How To Train Your Dragon showed this weekend, adding $29.2 million to its total. It has now earned $92.3 million for Dreamworks.
The next Nicholas Sparks adaptation, The Last Song also did well in its opening weekend. It held the forth spot, brining in $16.2 million dollars. Adding to its total from the week, it has grossed $25.6 million.
Elsewhere, Alice in Wonderland crossed the $300 million mark, adding $8.3 million to its total. It is now the 12th fastest film to this milestone, taking only 28 days to reach it. That record is held by The Dark Knight which took only 10 days.
Check out the top 10: (movie- weekend; total)
1. Clash of the Titans- $61,400,000; $64,055,000 (debut)
