After pouring his life and savings (and family’s savings) into the revenge thriller Blue Ruin, it looks like it paid off for writer-director Jeremy Saulnier. As documented in this fantastic Moviemaker article about the step-by-step process of creating one of the year’s greatest break-outs, the film sold to Radius-TWC hours after its Cannes premiere and was released last month to acclaim (including our own).
He’s now found financing for his next project, as Variety reports Broad Green Pictures and Filmscience have come aboard Green Room. While the plot details are spare, the basic conceit is that it’ll follow a punk rock band who “find themselves trapped in a secluded venue after stumbling upon an act of violence, fighting for their lives against a gang of white power skinheads.” With production slated to kick off in September, check back for casting updates and see Saulnier analyze a scene from his latest film below.
