After picking up the grand jury prize at South by Southwest Film Festival last year, Adam Leon‘s drama Gimme the Loot recently hit theaters in New York City and tied with its expansion this weekend, we’ve got an exclusive clip to share today on behalf of IFC Films. Presented by Jonathan Demme, the film was partially funded on Kickstarter, and has been earning strong reviews on its festival and limited release run.

Here we can see a sweet scene featuring our leads, Malcom (Ty Hickson) and Sofia (Tashiana Washington), who let their guards down a little bit and start to become more honest with each other. Check out the exclusive clip below for the film also starring Zoë Lescaze, and see the trailer here if you missed it.

Synopsis:

Malcom and Sofia are the most determined teenage graffiti-writers in the Bronx. But when a rival gang buffs their latest masterpiece, they hatch a plan to get their revenge by planning the ultimate graffiti tag—to “bomb” the Mets’ home run apple. The only hitch is that they need to raise $500 to pull off their spectacular scheme. Over the course of two whirlwind, sun-soaked summer days, they travel on an epic urban adventure involving black market spray cans, illicit bodegas, stolen sneakers, a high-stakes heist, and a beautiful, stoned girl whose necklace is literally their key to fame. An official selection of the Cannes Film Festival and winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the SXSW Film Festival, and the Independent Spirit Someone to Watch Award, GIMME THE LOOT is the charming, funny, daring story of two taggers that will do anything to become the biggest writers in the city.

Gimme the Loot is now in limited theatrical release and expanding to LA and Chicago tomorrow, March 29th. Find out more information here.
