There was one movie at Cannes that brought streaks of ultra violence sending ripples into the normally stiff audience, causing them to roar with thunder. The film was Nicolas Winding Refn‘s Drive starring Ryan Gosling as a Travis Bickle-esque stunt driver in Los Angeles. The neo-noir fairy tale is about a road warrior on a mission of redemption that echoes classic gangster films of the ’80s and notable cult driving films such as Bullitt and Walter Hill‘s The Driver.

I was fortunate enough to sit down with both writer/director Refn and the main star of the film Ryan Gosling, only a few days before Refn won the best director award, and here them discuss their intimate journey into the mythological lands of Hollywood. Nicolas also briefly mentions a little treat about his upcoming Logan’s Run remake. Check out the video below or on YouTube in HD and let us know if you looking forward to Nicolas Winding Refn‘s Drive.

Drive hits theaters September 16th, 2011.
