Fast Five, about to hit $600 million at the worldwide box office, will of course be getting a sequel and Universal has now set a date. Currently going under the title The Fast and the Furious 6, Justin Lin is expected to return to direct, as well as all our major players including Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, for the actioner that will hit theaters May 24th, 2013. This is a bit more confident of a date than the previous film’s April bow, setting for the busy Memorial Day Weekend instead.

Summer of 2013 is shaping up to be a big one as Robert Schwentke‘s action comedy R.I.P.D. starring Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges has just set a date of June 28th, 2013. The two Universal films join other blockbusters such as Iron Man 3, Oblivion, Monsters University, Despicable Me 2, and The Dark Tower (if it doesn’t get pushed back).

Opening earlier, Relativity Media has set their action film Act of Valor for a wide release on February 17th, 2012. We unspooled tons of details and images from the film featuring active duty Navy SEALs a few weeks ago, so check that out here.

In indie news, Samuel Goldwyn has set their comedy A Good Old Fashioned Orgy for a September 2nd, 2011 release. Following “a group of 30-year-olds who have been friends since high school and attempt to throw an end-of-summer orgy,” the comedy stars Lucy Punch, Jason Sudeikis, Leslie Bibb, Lake Bell, Will Forte, and Martin Starr. It has been getting strong reviews since its film festival debut this year.
