The loss of privacy in our modern world of technology has been fodder for filmmakers to tap into our fears and for James Ponsoldt‘s next film, he’s taking the issue head-on. After The Spectacular Now and The End of the Tour, his latest film is The Circle, a adaptation of the Dave Eggers novel that stars Tom Hanks, Emma Watson, John Boyega, Karen Gillan, Ellar Coltrane, Bill Paxton, and Patton Oswalt. Ahead of a release this April, the new full-length trailer has arrived.

The story follows a young woman (Watson) who is hired for a big job in an Internet monopoly called the Circle, which links users’ personal emails, social media, banking, and purchasing with their universal operating system, resulting in one online identity and a new age of civility and transparency. Things are, of course, not as they seem. This new trailer opens up more of the conspiracy in intense fashion as well as providing a better look at the supporting players, notably Boyega and Coltrane.

Check out the trailer below.

The Circle is a gripping modern thriller, set in the not-too-distant future, starring Emma Watson (“Harry Potter”), Tom Hanks (“Sully”) and John Boyega (“Star Wars: The Force Awakens”). When Mae (Emma Watson) is hired to work for the world’s largest and most powerful tech & social media company, she sees it as an opportunity of a lifetime. As she rises through the ranks, she is encouraged by the company’s founder, Eamon Bailey (Tom Hanks), to engage in a groundbreaking experiment that pushes the boundaries of privacy, ethics and ultimately her personal freedom. Her participation in the experiment, and every decision she makes begin to affect the lives and future of her friends, family and that of humanity.
