After almost a decade, Lynne Ramsay has returned to feature filmmaking. She was close to directing The Lovely Bones before Peter Jackson took over, but she is now back and just recently premiered her drama We Need To Talk About Kevin at Cannes Film Festival. We loved it there (review here), and it is now gearing up for a release this December.

Based on Lionel Shriver’s novel, the film stars Tilda Swinton, Ezra Miller, and John C. Reilly. It also features a score from Radiohead‘s Jonny Greenwood. We have our first trailer and poster via Bleeding Cool and I’m loving the style. I know the basics of the story, but this trailer barely reveals anything. It sells you on the perfectly framed images and what is sure to be another steller Swinton performance. Check it out below.

Synopsis:

A suspenseful and psychologically gripping exploration into a parent dealing with her child doing the unthinkable, We Need to Talk About Kevin is the highly-anticipated third feature from director Lynne Ramsay and features a tour-de-force performance by Tilda Swinton.

We Need To Talk About Kevin hits theaters on December 2nd, 2011 and will also play at the Toronto International Film Festival next month.
