Despite a rough 2012 with films like John Carter, Battleship and Savages, Taylor Kitsch looks to be landing back on his feet. The actor has teamed with Peter Berg again, this time for Lone Survivor, and has also gone back into the independent realm for The Grand Seduction. Bloody Disgusting now has news on another smaller project, which sees the star head into the serial killing business.

Kitsch is set to star in Exit 147, described as a “horror-thriller is about a man driving across the desert at night who is arrested by a small town sheriff (Kitsch) and held captive as part of his own sadistic game.” With Julian Jarrold (Becoming Jane, Red Riding: In the Year of Our Lord 1974) attached to direct for around a year now, the film is penned by Travis Milloy (Pandorum), and we’ll provide updates as they come in.

In other casting news, Olafur Darri Olafsson (The Deep, Contraband) is keeping busy these days, as the American-born, Icelandic resident has recently finished wrapping Ben Stiller’s The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Now he is the latest thespian to join Liam Neeson in the suspense thriller A Walk Among the TombstonesVariety reports that Olafsson will play a cemetery groundskeeper who gets caught up in the scheme of a violent killer.

Based on the best-selling novel series by Lawrence Block and adapted for the big screen by Scott Frank (who also wrote and directed Joseph Gordon-Levitt in The Lookout), the film pursues the life of Matt Scudder (Neeson) an alchoholic, former cop who spends his retirement trying to help out his friends in need, but this time Scudder soon finds himself caught the dark underbelly of the city after teaming up with a fellow AA member in order to track down the murderers of a heroin kingpin’s wife.

Also starring Dan Stevens and Ruth Wilson, filming will begin the first week of March in NYC and the film will likely see a release in 2014.
