After the involvement of 217 actors bringing to life over 400 pages of script across a 142-day shoot, we are now less than two months away from the return of David Lynch‘s Twin Peaks. We’ll be tuning in regardless, so like many, we want to see as little as possible before May 21st, and thankfully Showtime understands this fact. Instead of a regular trailer to push forward the marketing blitz, they’ve teamed with EW for a 40-minute special featuring the returning cast.

“It’s a feature film in 18 parts,” Lynch tells the magazine. “Twin Peaks is a cosmology,” adds Showtime’s president David Nevins. “What I think is satisfying about the new version is that it’s a deeper exploration of that stuff. What is the Red Room? How does the Red Room work? Where is Agent Cooper? Can he make it back?” While none of those questions are answered in this special, it is a nostalgic, entertaining reunion with many familiar faces, tracing both the history of the show and its unexpected return.

Check out a shorter version below, along with the EW covers and new stills, and the full 40-minute special here.
