Slash doesn’t just love whiskey, cigarettes, giant hats, and being one of the greatest guitar players in the history of mankind — he’s also a lover of cinema and has thrown his hat into the production game. Deadline reports that his company, Slasher Films (I don’t get it), has greenlit their first project. Called Nothing to Fear, the movie will follow a family whose path to a better life is constantly thwarted by a mentally unbalanced man of the cloth.

Interesting (if not a little vague), but what’s really cool about this project is that it’s apparently based on a real life town that is supposedly one of the seven gateways to Hell. This is the first time I’ve heard about it, so it’s been a pretty well-kept secret, considering its supposed connection to the Underworld. Thomas Haden Church is in talks to play the crazy clergyman, and production begins this fall in Louisana, with first time director Anthony Leonardi in the big chair.

With Slasher Films’ purpose being to make genre movies, I fully expect Nothing to Fear to be far more twisted than the tiny bit of information indicates. I wouldn’t expect anything else from a company where one of its owners willingly spent time with Axl Rose. That would drive anyone insane.

Any interest in Nothing to Fear? Also: Can someone shed light on this supposed “Hell” town?
