Crossing the $100 million mark at the domestic box office just about as we speak, there’s no denying the success of David O. Russell‘s latest drama, Silver Linings Playbook. Also securing Oscar nominations for the four main actors involved, it’s no surprise the ensemble is looking to continue a partnership with the director.
We’ve already learned last week that Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence will team up again for the third time (and the second with O. Russell) for his upcoming Abscam project. Now we’ve got news from The Hollywood Reporter that another reunion is in the cards as The Hunger Games star is set to once again work with O. Russell for a new project titled The Ends of the Earth.
Also reuniting with The Weinstein Company, this drama is described as a “a fact-based love story about a powerful oil tycoon who has everything stripped from him after he is caught in an affair.” Scripted by Argo‘s Chris Terrio, Lawrence was circling the film last summer but has now confirmed her role and likely got her top choice for a director.
She’ll be playing Lydie Marland, an educated, headstrong woman who was adopted as a girl by her aunt Virginia and uncle Ernest Marland. She later becomes their adopted daughter and eventually becomes Ernest’s wife. Urging him to raise workers’ wages and give them unprecedented access to medial care, she earns the nickname the “princess of the prairies.”
With O. Russell gearing up to shoot his next project momentarily with Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, Louis C.K., Cooper and Lawrence, don’t expect this one to hit theaters until 2014 or beyond.
Are you looking forward to the next two Silver Linings reunions?
