mirrors-2

Today it was announced through a BD Horror exclusive that director Victor Garcia (Return to the House on Haunted Hill) has been named director for the sequel to the 2008 horror movie Mirrors.  A brief synopsis of the plot:

After losing his fiancee in a car crash, for which he blames himself, suicidal Max Matheson reluctantly takes a job as a night watchman at his father’s Mayflower Department Store. When his co-workers are killed off in gruesome and horrible ways…he fears he’s losing his mind, or that he may be the next victim. (Quote from BD Horror)

To me, this sounds suspiciously like the plot to the first movie.  Man is stuck in a bad situation, gets job at Mayflower Department Store, loses it and starts seeing things in mirrors that turn out to be real.  My only hope is that the film somehow manages to fit in some originality. The first seemed to be a combination of the original Korean movie and a remake of Poltergeist III — complete with the trick of flooding the ground with water to make a mirror to suck a child through.

More information will certainly come out after shooting begins in November.

Who would you cast for the main role?  Does the plot seem different enough to be worth watching?
