Veteran actress Meryl Streep is apparently making a habit of re-teaming with her more recent directors. Earlier today we saw the release of publicity photos from the Margaret Thatcher biopic she is doing with her Mamma Mia director Phylidda Lloyd and now it has been announced that Streep will again work with The Devil Wears Prada director David Frankel on the film Great Hope Springs.

Deadline reports that Streep will play a woman unhappy with her marriage and, in a last ditch effort to save it, embarks on a weekend of intense couple’s counseling. They also point out that director Mike Nichols was once on board to helm this project along with Jeff Bridges playing her husband. No word on who will take over for Bridges alongside Streep.

This project sounds like a good change of pace for the star if the film is handled as a stripped down drama. With Frankel at the helm, however, I would expect something more in the vein of her work in It’s Complicated.

Who would you like to see as Streep’s costar in this film? Are you excited to see her reteam with Frankel?
