Surprise! Paramount is doing what every other studio is doing to every other semi-tentpole/tentpole release – adding a third dimension. [AICN]

Producer Frank Marshall hinted at as much via Twitter (via /Film):

Looking at 3-D test… Looking at 3-D for various projects, I think it’s here to stay, but not right for all movies… So far, feels like it’s better to shoot in 3-D rather than convert….

After several 3-D tests, I believe you can do a good conversion. Key is don’t treat it as a technical process, but involve the filmmakers.

The film’s (allegedly) using Stereo D, the 3-D company that worked on Avatar. That said, Airbender comes out on June 2nd, about a month and a half from now. I seem to recall another film getting post-converted 6 weeks before its release and the end result feeling very…unnecessary?

Is it worth it to convert Airbender to 3-D?
