Reports are coming in from Bleeding Cool (via The Playlist) that Jamie Bell (Jumper, Defiance) has been chosen to play Spiderman in Marc Webb’s upcoming reboot of the franchise. Although not confirmed, it comes from sources close to the project. A week ago reports were saying that Bell had made the shortlist of actors to play the role, alongside Josh Hutcherson. Logan Lerman was also a name being thrown around at one point for the role.
Cinematical reports that “Sony has told us that they are officially not commenting on this, which means they did not deny it.”
For all we know, it could be Hutcherson or Lerman that the role goes to. Either way, there has been a lot of talk about the role and I have a good feeling that within the next few weeks we will have some confirmation on this.
Spider-Man will start production later this year for a July 3, 2012 release.
