I didn’t realize college campuses were so dangerous over Thanksgiving break; Variety reports that Haley Bennett, who is currently co-starring in Terrence Malick‘s super secret movie of doom, has signed on to play the lead in Kristy, a psychological thriller from The Weinstein Company.

Directed by Oliver Blackburn, Kristy stars Bennett as a college student who is spending Thanksgiving weekend alone on campus. While there she has an encounter with a violent group of outcasts who decide to make her their next target, so it’s up to Kristy to face her fears and fight back.

Screenplay duties on Kristy are being handled by Anthony Jaswinski whose last gig was penning the 2010 horror movie Vanishing on 7th Street starring Elijah Wood. I’m all for a movie with a strong female lead so I’m hoping for good things from Kristy. It could be fun watching Bennett throat chop some fools.

Does Kristy interest you at all?
