After making over a billion dollars worldwide, it’s difficult to think of another blockbuster that had such little cultural impact as Tim Burton‘s Alice in Wonderland. But Lewis Carroll had more material and audiences seemingly always have more dollars, so now there’s James Bobin’s Alice Through the Looking Glass — the newest trailer for which at least looks like a more faithful translation of the great writer.
This, despite the return of Burton (as producer) and Mia Wasikowska, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, and Anne Hathaway. What, if anything, the likes of Sacha Baron Cohen, Rhys Ifans, and Andrew Scott add remains to be seen, and while won’t get our hopes up, it’d be nice to have a surprise.
Ahead of its May release, a new trailer has arrived and can be seen below:
Alice Through the Looking Glass opens on May 27, 2016.
