It was overwhelmingly apparent on just its first weekend that The Hunger Games would be one of Hollywood’s biggest franchises. Soon after, Lionsgate executed the all too common practice in YA adaptations of snipping its finale chapter into two extended parts, but in between we’ve got the second chapter in the series and tonight our first trailer has arrived.
Perfectly selling to its demographic, this new look for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire premiered at the MTV Movie Awards tonight and sees director Francis Lawrence stepping in for Gary Ross, but clearly keeping the same aesthetic that sold audiences the first time around, but thankfully with less shaky cam.

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire opens on November 22nd, 2013.
