Following up Laura Poitras‘ Oscar-winning Edward Snowden exposé Citizenfour, Oliver Stone will be turning the events of his life into a drama, set to arrive this Christmas. Snowden finds Joseph Gordon-Levitt playing the whistle-blower, but more specifically diving into his time before the major events, when he served the country, enlisting the United States Army Reserve and then working for the CIA.
Open Road has now released the first teaser and it’s quite a disappointment as there’s no actual footage to be seen. We imagine a better look will arrive in the next few months, but for those intrigued in the drama, it does little to change anticipation. With a cast also including Shailene Woodley, Nicolas Cage, Melissa Leo, Zachary Quinto, Tom Wilkinson, Rhys Ifans, Joely Richardson and Timothy Olyphant, check out the trailer below.
Snowden opens on December 25th.
