Writer/Director David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight, Jumper) has been hired to pen the new installment of Superman mythos. The one behind the hiring is Legendary Pictures head Thomas Tull, who apparently dug the ideas Goyer had for the superhero.

Speaking of Superman, Latino Review (who broke the story) has listed a few points on the this upcoming film:

– The film will not be called Superman, but rather The Man Of Steel

– Brandon Routh will not reprise his role as Clark Kent

– Bryan Singer is not expected to direct

Apparently this won’t be an origin story (thank God) and will assume the positions of all the main characters without much explanation. At this point, do viewers really need it?

Goyer’s the kind of hit-or-miss guy that is always interesting to watch. His premises always seem to be there (FlashForward, even The Invisible was a little creative) but the execution is never a sure thing.

Hopefully The Man Of Steel is more Dark Knight and less Blade: Trinity.

Are you confident Goyer will produce a quality Superman script?
