Although it’s been quite some time since composer Danny Elfman has delivered anything to write home about (hopefully that changes with Silver Linings Playbook), his stamp is still one to be trusted. We’ve got news on two upcoming projects, one that sees him reteam with a frequent collaborator and another which will mark a first-time team-up.

Film Music Reporter does what they do best and lets us know that Elfman has jumped on the next film from Gus Van Sant, who he has worked with on his last film, Restless, as well as Good Will Hunting, To Die For and Milk. Once set to be Matt Damon‘s directorial debut, Promised Land stars the actor as well as John Krasinski, Rosemarie DeWitt, Hal Holbrook, Scoot McNairy, Titus Welliver and Frances McDormand. With the small town drama set for a late December release, we’ll be hearing his score before we know it.

We’ve also got news that he’s getting ready to score the Fox Searchlight biopic Hitchcock, which stars Anthony Hopkins as the  master filmmaker and follows him during the making of Psycho. Also starring Scarlett Johansson, James D’Arcy, Helen Mirren, Toni Collette, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jessica Biel and Danny Huston, we keep hearing this one may sneak into the end of awards season this year, but unfortunately no news on that yet.

Are you looking forward to the next few Elfman scores?
