Phil Lord and Chris Millar, the co-writers and directors of the food frenzy of an animation that is Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, are currently in talks with Disney to potentially create and direct a new comedy entitled Bob the Musical. Yes, Bob the Musical. [Risky Biz]

The story of Bob follows a normal, unassuming guy who suffers a nasty blow to the head. A strange after effect caused by the bump on the noggin just happens to be that he is now able to hear the songs inside other peoples’ hearts. Freaky. The music and lyrics are being written by none other than Marc Shaiman, the composer of the original music for Hairspray.

The film project has moved in many different writer/director directions with Mike Bender first writing a version that Hairspray director, Adam Shankman, was set to helm, then Babaloo Mandel and Lowell Ganz tried writing the script with the idea that Mean GirlsMark Waters would direct. If Lord and Miller say they are up for the challenge they’ll have to work around their next directing project, the remake of 21 Jump Street starring Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill.

Do you think Lord and Miller could make Bob work?
