You can strike down the rumor that Charlize Theron and Vera Farmiga were in talks for Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight Rises. Deadline is reporting the shortlist Nolan is currently looking at for an unknown villain and Bruce Wayne’s lover.
The list includes. Rachel Weisz, Naomi Watts, Blake Lively, Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway and Keira Knightley. Whichever two get picked will join the rest of the returning cast and new addition Tom Hardy.
We don’t know anything else about The Dark Knight Rises. That is all.
Blake Lively has some superhero experience, portraying the love interest in The Green Lantern next summer. Natalie Portman, who is a strong Best Actress contender for Black Swan, would certainly be a lovely choice and will be in Thor next May. I’d love to see her snag the villain role. As for a lover Hathaway or Knightley would go nicely with Wayne. Then again, we will probably get a million more casting rumors until the film shoots this spring.
The film hits theaters July 20, 2012.
