When it comes to young actresses, few seem to work as hard as Chloe Moretz. After last year’s Hugo, she just wrapped the Carrie remake and now has been forced to drop a film due her commitment to return as Hit Girl in Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall. The film in question is The Wilderness of James, an indie drama that would see re-team with her Let Me In star Kodi Smitt-McPhee.
But with Kick-Ass 2 kicking off last week and this film starting up in October, Moretz is out as the female lead and has been replaced by Isabelle Fuhrman, Deadline reports. While many will recognize her from her title role in the creepy, twisty Orphan, she’s also appeared in The Hunger Games and will have a role in M. Night Shyamalan‘s After Earth, due next summer. There was also talk of her leading David Gordon-Green‘s Suspiria, but that project seems up in the air now.
James will see her in the directorial debut of Michael Johnson, in the film that follows a child (Smitt-McPhee) in Portland who comes of age as he deals with his father’s absence. Fuhrman would play opposite Smitt-McPhee in the role of Val, but unfortunately no more details are known regarding her character. While this one is on the low-budget side, it could still prove to be a nice alternative to the massive budget sci-fi epic she has next summer.
Does Furhman make a strong replacement?
