Andrew Dominik took two of my favorite movie stars (Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck) and turned out one of the most amazing movies I’ve ever seen (The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford). He is now scheduled to take both of those talents and create a film adaptation of the novel Cogan’s Trade. The crime-novel by George V. Higgins is set in Boston, however filming is set to take place in New Orleans, and likely the setting of the story will follow suit.
Also enticing, the press release had a laundry list of rumored names associated with the flick. We know about Pitt and Affleck, along with Javier Bardem, Mark Ruffalo, and Sam Rockwell. However, it is now rumored that three more big names are tied to the project: Bill Murray, Josh Brolin, and Zoe Saldana. Exhale.
Dominik has written and will direct the film which has suddenly crept to the top of my most anticipated list. Shooting begins in March.
Are you as excited about this as I am? Is moving it to New Orleans the right move?
