Although it didn’t seem to strike the chord of the first film, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues still raked in well over its predecessor, with a worldwide gross of nearly $170 million. Before a Blu-ray release, Paramount is going to provide one last opportunity to see it in theaters — but unlike your standard re-release, this one comes with an added bonus. It was revealed during the production and press tour that, like most films from Adam McKay, there was a wealth of additional material. The studio is now going to release the latest adventure of Ron Burgundy with an R-rated cut that includes 763 new jokes.

Speaking to the New York Times, McKay reveals that 95% of the jokes are new and this extended version increases the runtime by about 20 minutes, which would put it at approximately 140 minutes. He says, “We started talking and realized, we can replace every single joke in the movie with another joke,” but added, “you should feel free to get up, go the bathroom.” He says, “This is a stitched up, Frankenstein version,” with “misfires, obscure send-ups and plenty of jokes to match Mr. Ferrell’s off-color jacket.” So, with the notion that “you’ll either love it or hate it,” check out the trailer and a clip below, and let us know which side you think you’ll fall under.
