While Hollywood continually churns out various films on World War II, every so often the horror genre likes to take the tragic events and put a delirious spin on them. In a new film that doesn’t seem far removed from a Call of Duty bonus level we get a mix of Frankenstein and Nazi madness, and today brings out first gruesome red band trailer.
Directed by Richard Raaphorst, we saw Frankenstein’s Army during Tribeca and said it’s a “B-movie in every sense of the word. Not without laughs, moments of blood, gore and primitive surgery as its name suggests, the film unfortunately takes on a found-footage approach that doesn’t always work.” Check out the red band trailer below for the film starring Karel Roden, Joshua Sasse, Robert Gwilym, Alexander Mercury, Luke Newberry, Hon Ping Tang, Andrei Zayata and Mark Stevenson.
Synopsis:
In the waning days of World War II, a battalion of Russian soldiers find themselves lost in enemy territory. Stumbling upon a village decimated by an unseen terror, they discover that a mad scientist (Hellboy’s Karel Roden) conducts experiments to fuse flesh and steel, creating an unstoppable army of undead soldiers. Leaderless and faced with dissention amongst their dwindling ranks, they must find the courage to face down an altogether new menace — or die trying.
Frankenstein’s Army hits theaters and on demand on July 26th.
