Following up his comedy-tinged drama The Skeleton Twins, director Craig Johnson has adapted the work of Daniel Clowes for his next feature. Led by Woody Harrelson, Wilson follows the unlikable title character as he attempts to reunite with his estranged wife and blossom a new relationship with his teenage daughter.
As one can tell in the first red band trailer, just released by Fox Searchlight, things don’t exactly go as planned. For Harrelson, it seems like a perfectly fitting role, playing an asshole with a little bit of tenderness inside. We’d imagine this one will get a premiere at Sundance ahead of its release in March. Also starring Laura Dern, Judy Greer, Cheryl Hines, and Isabella Amara, check out the trailer below.
Harrelson stars as Wilson, a lonely, neurotic and hilariously honest middle-aged misanthrope who reunites with his estranged wife (Laura Dern) and gets a shot at happiness when he learns he has a teenage daughter (Isabella Amara) he has never met. In his uniquely outrageous and slightly twisted way, he sets out to connect with her.
Wilson opens on March 24th, 2017.
