It’s no surprise there is great anticipation surrounding the next work from Neill Blomkamp, the director that burst onto the scene in 2009 with his acclaimed science-fiction project District 9. Sony Pictures finally delivered our first trailer in the spring for the Matt Damon-led Elysium and while can expect another full-length one on Thursday, we’ve got some new footage in the first TV spot.

But before we get to that, we’ve got an update on Blomkamp’s third feature film titled Chappie, one that will re-team him with both District 9 co-writer Terri Tatchell and star Sharlto Copley. The details come from Den of Geek, who recently spoke with the filmmaker and revealed that he’s once again adapting one of his previous works. Following Alive in Joburg morphing into District 9, this new project, which is said to be more comedic, based on his 2003 short film Tetra Vaal, featuring robotic police in a third-world country. Check out both the new TV spot below, as well as the full, brief short as we await more details.

Elysium arrives on August 9th.
