It must be the Twilight infection that brings out all this craziness. It was wildly unheard of when Snow White and the Huntsman star Kristen Stewart and director Rupert Sanders both publicly apologized for their much-talked about affair mere moments after it was actually revealed. Now a studio is actually coming out a denying a trade report, perhaps an even more rare occasion.

Last night it was reported that Universal would be moving forward on a spin-off featuring just Chris Hemsworth‘s character, something that was revealed before the first film even hit theaters. With that, came reports that Kristen Stewart has been dropped from the franchise, but it looks like sources jumped the gun, as Universal issued a statement saying, “We are extremely proud of Snow White and the Huntsman and we’re currently exploring all options to continue the franchise. Any reports that Kristen Stewart has been dropped are false.”

So, there you have it. While production on a Snow White and the Huntsman follow-up wouldn’t even begin until next summer at the earliest due to Hemswoth’s Thor: The Dark World, we’ve got a long time to go before any sort of official crew or additional cast (or lack thereof) gets announced. So hold tight, as I’m sure a swirl of further rumors will occur for the foreseeable future.

Do you even want to see a SWATH follow-up?
