‘Slice’ Trailer: Chance the Rapper and Zazie Beetz Go on a Supernatural Hunt

Written by on August 21, 2018

After getting the first tease way back in 2016, the promised 2017 release for Austin Vesely’s horror feature Slice didn’t materialize, but now it looks like A24 is finally ready to unleash the film–starring Chance Bennett aka Chance the Rapper–into the world. Also starring Atlanta‘s Zazie Beetz, the first trailer has now arrived for the Chicago-shot feature, which follows our leads getting the bottom of a mystery involving werewolves, pizza, a gateway into hell, and more.

“He is actually a werewolf who is a former Chinese food delivery driver,” writer-director Austin Vesely told Red Eye, explaining Chance the Rapper’s character, named Dax Lycander. “Basically, these murders start happening and they hearken back to an incident that happened with him years before, and they arouse the town’s suspicions.”

Also starring Paul Scheer, Rae Gray, and Joe Keery, see the trailer and poster below.

In a spooky small town, when a slew of pizza delivery boys are slain on the job, two daring survivors (Atlanta’s Zazie Beetz and Chance the Rapper in a wild film debut) set out to catch the culprits behind the cryptic crime spree. Slice is Director Austin Vesely’s first feature film after helming music videos for Chance’s “Sunday Candy” and “Angels.”

Slice arrives this fall.
