While the title may have you believe a self-reflexive documentary about Rachel Weisz is coming from her not-too-distant family member, My Cousin Rachel is rather a period drama with a bit of a twist. An adaptation of Daphne Du Maurier‘s classic novel, the story is centered on an Englishman (Sam Claflin) who is caught in a bit of a pickle: he plots revenge against his cousin, Rachel (Weisz), under suspicion of murder, all the while falling for her irresistible charms.

Ahead of a release by Fox Searchlight this summer, a new trailer for the Roger Michell-directed feature has now landed. Rather than a staid period drama, Weisz looks to command this one with some serious bite. See the trailer below, along with the poster, for the film also starring Holliday Grainger, Iain Glen, and Pierfrancesco Favino.

A dark romance, MY COUSIN RACHEL tells the story of a young Englishman who plots revenge against his mysterious, beautiful cousin, believing that she murdered his guardian. But his feelings become complicated as he finds himself falling under the beguiling spell of her charms.
