We can thank the rapturous response at its South by Southwest premiere, because we’ll be getting Edgar Wright‘s Baby Driver sooner than expected. Once set for a mid-August bow, Sony Pictures moved the action comedy up to the more heated arena of late June and now they’ve released a brand new trailer. Starring Ansel Elgort, Kevin Spacey, Lily James, Jon Bernthal, Eiza González, Jon Hamm, and Jamie Foxx, this more concise preview actually works better than the past ones, since it’s light on plot, but perfectly sells Wright’s editing style.

“It’s sort of like the old Warner Brothers gangster films in that it’s a cautionary tale. The first chase that you see is the dream, that’s the sort of dream chase. People who have had fantasies of being in a high-speed pursuit, that’s sort of how you hope it would go,” Wright tells LA Times. “And with each successive action scene the stakes get higher and the consequences more obvious to Ansel’s character and the human collateral. And then it’s about him escaping from his job. I wanted it to be a film where the intensity keeps going up as it keeps going on.”

Check out the trailer below, along with a 40-minute SXSW Q&A.

A talented, young getaway driver (Ansel Elgort) relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best in the game. When he meets the girl of his dreams (Lily James), Baby sees a chance to ditch his criminal life and make a clean getaway.
