When we previewed the fall slate one of the biggest question marks was if we’d see J.C. Chandor‘s Margin Call and All is Lost follow-up A Most Violent Year by the end of 2014. Our prayers have, indeed, been answered as A24 have now not only set a December 31st limited release (before a January expansions), but have also dropped the impressive first trailer.
Led by Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain, they star as heads of an oil business that begin to clash with the criminal underworld of New York City. The trailer reveals a gorgeously shot film (thanks to the talented Bradford Young) as it chronicles the titular year. We have our fingers crossed that this one will perhaps show up at AFI Fest or a surprise at NYFF. Also starring David Oyelowo, Albert Brooks, Christopher Abbott, Peter Gerety, Elyes Gabel, and Catalina Sandino Moreno, check out the trailer below, along with the first poster.
A Most Violent Year arrives on December 31st, 2014.
