Warner Bros. were correct in ordering a sequel for The Hangover two months before it even hit theaters. The Todd Phillips comedy went on to become the highest grossing R-rated comedy of all-time. We now have a few updates on the sequel thanks to Market Saw and Collider.

Todd Phillips revealed to Collider that the previous rumors of going to Thailand or Mexico are not true and the plan is to shoot November 1st. They have to balance Ed HelmsOffice schedule and Bradley Cooper‘s other films.

He also told Market Saw that all four leads are coming back and after meeting with James Cameron he plans to shoot it in 3D:

Phillips replied that he had actually talked to Jim Cameron about this because it would be the perfect movie to do in 3D. He has some issue with the mobility of the 3D cameras as they shoot with a very loose style, but he is looking into it. Cameron invited him down to show him things that he has been doing and Phillips has totally invested himself in 3D’s future!

The announcement comes the day after Warner Bros. confirmed all of its tentpole releases will be in 3D.

The Hangover 2 is tentatively set for Memorial Day 2011.

Does The Hangover 2 actually need to be in 3D?
