After debuting a few first look images from one of Sundance 2012’s in competition dramas, we now have our first look at actual footage for Filly Brown. Directed by Youssef Delara and Michael D. Olmos the story that follows “mexican girl who rises to fame and consciousness as she copes with the incarceration of her mother through music” stars Lou Diamond Phillips, Gina Rodriguez, Jenni Rivera and Edward James Olmos.
The teaser (found by Bleeding Cool) is very much just that, giving us just a taste of a song heard in the film and establishing a bit of location, as well showing off the bigger leads. My hope is that it breaks the mold of these similar rising star stories, but we’ll find out come January. Check it out below along with the previous photos.
