For a few years now director D.J. Caruso (Eagle Eye) has been trying to adapt Brian K. Vaughn’s critically acclaimed series Y: The Last Man. A script has been in development for quite some time now too. One factor attributed to the fact that the film might finally get made is that Shia LaBeouf (Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen) would headline the potential franchise, but now that may not be the case. LaBeouf recently commented to Wired Magazine saying:

It seems like he’s the ordinary guy in an extraordinary situation again.” Much like the character of Sam in the Transformers films. I’m not willing to make that movie currently, and may be too old to play the role by the time it does come around.

This rather disappointing news considering Shia could have fit the role perfectly. He was the only aspect that really showed promise with this adaptation, because after Eagle Eye D.J. Caruso doesn’t have my vote of confidence. Its a fantastic series that could work on the big screen or even as mini-series.
