After the long break since 2008’s Quantum of Solace, it seems that fans really did miss 007. Released last fall, Sam Mendes‘ Skyfall has already racked up an insane $1.1 billion at the box office, even above Christopher Nolan‘s final entry into the Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises. Now with the producers planning to get back into the groove of a new James Bond film every two years, we’re all waiting to hear which talent will come aboard Bond 24.
According to reports from Daily Mail, it may very well be our talented director. It’s reported that Mendes was hesitant to commit to another film due to the original plan of having John Logan scripting back-to-back, connected projects. If producers went that route it would take up the next four years of Mendes’ career, but with those plans scrapped, giving way to a completely stand-alone film, the director is now reconsidering.
We already got a hint he may be interested with news he was developing the story for Bond 24 and now a source claims that he is 75% on board with coming back, but simply waiting to read a complete script before signing on the dotted line with MGM and Sony. While producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson are looking to get production ready for the end of the year, or even early in 2014, if they want Mendes back, they’d have to wait until he has completed work on his play King Lear, as well as a musical version of Roald Dahl’s Charlie And The Chocolate Factory this summer. Although yours truly would much, much rather see him take on an original project, there’s no denying the fitting level of class he brings to this franchise.
Would you like to see Mendes take on Bond 24? Or rather an original project?
