‘Skyfall’ Writer John Logan Returns For 24th and 25th James Bond Films; Will Have Linked Story

Written by on October 26, 2012

Update: The 24th and 25th films in the James Bond series will be linked, according to Deadline. Logan has been confirmed to script both and they even hint that these films could be shot back-to-back. Check out the original story below as we await more details.

A day after Idris Elba was rumored, again, to play the world’s most famous secret agent, we’re landing here. James Bond is incapable of simply staying in one place, isn’t he?

Fansite MI6 have been told that Hugo scribe John Logan — who made his franchise premiere by co-writing Skyfall with Neil Purvis and Robert Wade — is not only composing Bond 24‘s screenplay on his own (for the time being), but has even completed a whole outline. We, needless to say, are not being given any sort of access to that piece — I suspect an actual MI6 briefing is easier to get a hold of — as such a right goes to “the core ‘Bond Family’ team.” (I’m guessing that would translate to Barbara Broccoli, Michel G. Wilson, and Daniel Craig.)

Thankfully, 007 aficionados won’t have to wait so long to learn its contents. As it so happens, Bond 24 is expected to go before cameras in only around a year’s time, while an actual release is expected to occur two years from now. So, yes: We’re back to the once-every-two-years pattern, and I couldn’t be happier.

This news is perfectly satisfying, too. I love the screenplay Logan helped craft with Skyfall, and while the level of his involvement remains unclear when two other people were involved, his prior work often resulted in films I found myself pretty positive toward. Far out though it may be, Bond 24 is already in solid shape.

Meanwhile, the 23rd Bond film, Skyfall, opens in the UK today, followed by a US release on November 9th. You’ve probably figured that out by now.

Is Logan someone you’re happy to see sticking with the James Bond series?
