Sony Pictures has finally released the new trailer for Roland Emmerich’s new disaster film 2012. The film follows an academic researcher who is trying to survive the apocalyptic events predicted by the ancient Mayan calender. The cast includes John Cusack, Oliver Platt, Thandie Newton, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Danny Glover. Check out the trailer in HD after the jump.
This actually looks like it could be a fun disaster film. The trailer may be a little over done with the distractingly over dramatic music, but there is enough great looking sequences in the trailer to make up for it. The big factor going against this film is the director Roland Emmerich who hasn’t made a fun film since Independence Day. The last few films he has done didn’t turn out too well, most notably 10,000 BC, so this is basically a warning sign to not get your hopes up.
